Last night The Block Triple Threat main bathroom reveals were shown and I had mixed feelings as I saw each reveal. My favourite bathroom was Dee & Daz’s and I thought they were once again worthy winners. I wasn’t blown away by the bathrooms, but there were some good choices made by each of the couples. Let’s check out the bathrooms and I will give a run down on the design and layout and it’s practicality for future use.
First up was Josh and Charlotte’s bathroom which was simple but looked a little stark to me. It felt too light and not enough interest to keep my attention. I did love their long inset shelf in the shower, but there was little storage elsewhere which makes it not very practical for a main bathroom. The overhead shower was a nice choice, but it would have been good to have a shower rose and rail as I find that not a lot of pressure comes through when it’s mounted from the ceiling. The tap choice was different, but not something I would have chosen and I felt like I’d seen that over mount basin before. The inwall cistern is a great way to save space and I liked where they placed the toilet in the layout of the room.
Next was Tim & Anastasia’s bathroom which was a big improvement in design after their elimination round of bathroom reveals. I really liked the timber vanity despite the work needed to maintain them. I liked the contrast in tile choice and the basin tap was a very cool feature. A similar shower shelf and overhead rose was used like Josh & Charlotte’s bathroom. The diamond shaped tiles in the shower were a stunning choice. I agree with Neale about not liking shallow basins. The black one chosen does look fabulous but I wonder about practicality with cleaning it over time. Black ceramics or stone can be water stained over time which makes them look a little grubby despite being cleaned.
The third bathroom was Jess & Ayden’s which I was eager to see with their choice of expensive tiles. I’m partial to the hexagonal tile and would have definitely used it as a feature wall as opposed to all over. I loved that Jess & Ayden chose to make a separate room for the toilet. It’s sensible and practical especially in a main bathroom where a toilet is almost always separate from the shower and vanity. I did not like the above mounted basin. It reminded me of a trough. I didn’t mind the light timber finish on the mirror and under the vanity.
The last bathroom reveal was Dea and Daz’s and I think they did well. It looked luxurious and I love a bath in a main bathroom. The double vanity is also practical for a main bathroom. I agreed with Shayna about whether there was a need for double shower heads as this is more suited for an ensuite. I loved the tile choice and the functional storage. I also liked the styling. The only concerns I have are the practicality of cleaning around a feature bath as it looks like a tight fit. Again the overhead showers seem to be an in trend but having a shower rose on a rail is very practical and will possibly be longed for by the couple that live in this apartment. Despite my concerns, it’s a bathroom I would happily relax in and have in my home.
